Eating off a stick

Eating off a stick sounds, hmmm, not really very appealing. But, when you call it a kabob something changes - it suddenly seems more elevated. A dessert worth having a look at. So, with all the really good fresh fruit that's inseason, I thought why not - lets put it on a stick and for good measure, drizzle it with chocolate - now we're talking!

Fruit of your choice that has been washed and dried. (It can't be damp or your chocolate will not stick)
Skewers (available at Crocus & Ivy)
Thread the fruit onto the skewers and line up on a piece of parchment paper.

Melt together (I used real short bursts in my microwave, but be careful not to burn the chocolate) (you can use less chocolate if you are doing small amounts, just adjust the shortening)
1 1/2-2 c. milk chocolate chips (or white chips would work too)
1 tbsp. veg. shortening (this makes it easier to drizzle)
Stir until smooth
Drizzle over kabobs and let set for a couple of minutes before transfering to your platter (the pretty one in the picture is also available at Crocus & Ivy - it's by Mudpie and features embossed hydrangeas - really pretty)
and, you're done. How easy was that?
