So the holidays are almost here. I don't really need to bake anything more, but I couldn't resist trying this cute idea. I had found it on a shortbread recipe but I had a craving for chocolate chip, so this is what I did - a little reindeer on chocolate chip. Now, don't judge my piping ability - this really is an art and it looks like I might have to work on it, but the cookie is pretty cute with the horns and smartie nose - I think the kid in all of us will like it.
Chocolate Chip Cookie (right off the chipits bag - really good recipe!)
1 c. softened butter
1 c. brown sugar (packed)
1/2 c. white sugar
Cream together by hand or in a mixer
add 2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
Add 2 c. flour
1 tsp. b.soda
1/2 tsp. salt
Add in and mix
1 cup (roughly) semi sweet chocolate chips
Spread onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes. (this was a little messy, I did use my hands to help spread the dough as it is quite sticky and I was a little impatient - lol)
Remove and let cool for about 1/2 hour
Cut into triangles and remove from pan.
When cool, pipe a little icing (you can make from scratch or use a premaid icing) for the eyes and horns, add a small amount to glue the smartie nose on.
If you don't have a piping bag - just use a ziploc bag, fill with icing and cut the end off the corner - just keep the corner cut real small.
* If you'd rather make the traditional drop cookie go ahead - it will be just as cute with the horns and nose!
